Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Jasmine marks Keith Jarrett's first recorded collaboration in decades other than with his standards trio, and reunites him with the great bassist Charlie Haden, a close partner until the mid-seventies. Intimate, spontaneous and warm, this album of love songs recorded at Jarrett's home, has affinities, in its unaffected directness, with his solo collection The Melody At Night With You. These deeply felt performances should inspire any listener "to call your wife or husband or lover in late at night," as Jarrett says in his liner notes, "These are great love songs played by players who are trying, mostly, to keep the message intact." The program on Jasmine includes such classic songs as "Body and Soul", "For All We Know" , "Where Can I Go Without You", "Don't Ever Leave Me" as well as a rare Jarrett cover of a contemporary pop song, "One Day I'll Fly Away". Jarrett and Haden play the music and nothing but the music - as only they can. As Keith Jarrett says in his liner notes: "This is spontaneous music made on the spot without any preparation save our dedication throughout our lives that we won't accept a substitute... These are great love songs played by players who are trying, mostly, to keep the message intact."

5 out of 5 stars mellow, mellow Jarrett   September 5, 2010
Chuck Kimball (julian, ca United States)
this is a stunning, easy album, Charlie has calmed the waters and the result is like sitting an a cozy piano bar at closing in the 60's. I wish they had continued together all these years... buy it, you won't be disappointed....

3 out of 5 stars Stick with Melody at Night   August 30, 2010

Read the description. If it appeals, go back and listen to or buy immediately "The Melody at Night with You", sit back and enjoy perfection. Jasmine, on the other hand, just doesn't deliver.

5 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING performances ... do not hesitate   August 1, 2010
Daniel Conaway (Glen Ellyn, IL United States)
Beautiful, simple, and absolutely elegant performances here of several old classics ... this album is an excellent follow-on if you enjoyed "The Melody at Night, With You". I second the comments of reviewer SF_Musician above who noted that he is "not one of those people who thinks that everything Jarrett does is great ... but this is -- "

Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Another beautiful performance ruined by the Sniveling Whine   July 27, 2010

Anyone with a passing interest in Jarrett's recorded work knows what I'm talking about. I fully embrace every enthusiastic five-star rating of the music recorded here. It's beautiful. I hoped, though, I could be spared the frustration of having Jarrett's Sniveling Whine once again corrupt an otherwise amazing listening experience. No such luck. I know, I know -- I should pay attention to the music, etc. I've been listening to Keith Jarrett for 25 years, even with the SW. This time I've just had enough. How does Jarrett expect anyone to overlook that intrusion time and time again? He's walked off stage because audience members were coughing too much. I'd bet if someone else started the SW during a concert he'd walk off for that too. At least I didn't try to follow the advice to "Call your wife or husband or lover in late at night and sit down and listen." As soon as the SW foolishness began, more than the recording would have been ruined on that night......

CD conttains some of the smoothest jazz.
Combo of base and piano is outstanding.
Well worth having.
