Another good game by activision April 11, 2010 Jeannie Roberts (Porland Oregon) It was a good game overall very fun and graphically impresive, but there isonly one song and it plays over and over kinda gets annoying. Some nice new features are that you can actually see crew members not just on your ship but others, and a identification guide on periscope mode. I give it a 4 out of 5 because it is very hard to multi task on the game, missions take forever, and music makes you go insane. Overall fun and a challenging game.
More real as expected. January 21, 2010 M. Díaz (San Salvador, ES) Game demands a little bit more concentration than other strategic games. It is a challenge for you and it gives the opportunity to get inside into war zone simulation from a submarine side.
Silent Hunter III November 19, 2009 John V. Graff (Overland Park, Kansas) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Excellent enjoyable program; however, unlike the first "Silent Hunter III" I had, THIS reproduced version is NOT supported by Game Shadow. Therefore, no "Updates" nor "Patches" are available!
Thank you,
John Graff
A game that non-linear plot simulation lovers are sure to enjoy! August 28, 2009 O. DELGADO (USA) First, it should be emphasized that this game is NOT intended to work on Vista as it is, and this was thene only problem I had with the game from a technical standpoint. I wrongly presumed that if I have Vista there should be no problems running a game meant for an earlier version of Windows. I feverishly researched the issue and found many forums were the problem was discussed, however the information was contradictory depending on the discussion and it quickly became evident that everyone was having mostly unique issues and different things worked for different people. I installed this game on my laptop and my personal computer - both which run with Vista and had different issues with both systems. Ultimately what worked for me was installing the game, downloading the latest patch from [...], and then downloading the latest patch for Starforce - the pirating protection the game comes with. This MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE... folks reported success by doing the exact opposite of what I did and everything in between. My advice is to not try the same thing twice until it works. The game runs smoothly on my system, which is your typical $1,200 system as of early 2009.
If you enjoy a complete freedom of movement style simulation with impressive, almost tangible graphics, effects, and satisfying physics then this game is for you. If you enjoy micro-managing the smallest details of a submarine crew and the various specialized compartment of a sub, or if you would rather give orders and allow the crew to execute these commands autonomously while you watch the devestation from breathtaking camera angles, this game is for you.
This game puts you in command of the deadliest type of ship that sailed the seas of the Atlantic during World War II - the German U-boat. Every decision you make has consequences and rewards, and you take ownership inside the vast seas of the western hemisphere; your playground of destruction.
- One happy gamer.
Definately a keeper. August 10, 2009 05Hogs Rule (Army Kaserne, Germany)
Ive only purchased SH-3 and SH-4 (U.S. Pacific).
This game, with its graphics, playability, dynamics for realism....Well done UBISOFT!!!
I use a Pentium-4 system w/1-gig of RAM and a video card that is about 4 years old...maybe?
there is more to write, but Ive not got the words right yet.....other than I enjoy the game alot.
If I had a choice of SH-3 over the U.S. Sub game, SH-Pacific, Id take SH-3.
For some reason, video is all goofy with SH-4, and I dont know if I have a bad copy or my system just doesnt work well with it?
