 A Slow Cooker to keep! March 8, 2010

I have alway's disliked Slow Cooker's, Crock-pots, whatever you want to call them. In the last 22 years I have bought and given away more than I can count. This model was my last shot, as in the interim, I have become very fond of a pressure cooker in place of the crock-pot. In the pressure cooker, I can have pot roast dinner on the table in one hour, start to finish and it's perfect. When I read the info about this unit, I thought well, I'll try one more, and if this one doesn't cut it I'm done. I am happy to report that this is a wonderful model and I am so happy with it for a number of reasons. The versatily in programming time is fantastic, cook chicken breasts for 8 hours on low and you will have saw dust, so nice to have other options and the warm feature. The unit comes up to temp quickly and programming is easy. I haven't used the probe feature yet, but plan to soon. Thank you Hamilton Beach for a lovely small appliance! BTW if you're looking for a good Slow Cooker Cookbook, Fix it and forget it, the big book is the best I have found and I've looked at over 30 of them.

I am really enjoying this slow cooker. It is easy to use, easy to program, esay to clean and cooks really well. One suggestion, don't try locking the lid in place while cooking. I did that and had to let the whole thing cool off before I could get it open. Lock down only when transporting. Oh well, Learn something new every day.

I don't typically write reviews but felt I should for this product. I've had this slow cooker for about three weeks and have used it about 10 times. Since I leave the house at 7 a.m. and return around 6 p.m., the warming feature is awesome!!!! My kids are usually starving when we get home from daycare and I love that this slow cooker has dinner ready so they're not filling up on yogurt, cheese, etc. I've done roasts, chicken, soup, and noodles. The meat is tender and it's a great alternative to boxed, perservative-filled foods. I wish I found this sooner.
